The author feels that …‘We all have inspiration to access since we all have hearts that can feel….I open my heart, receive a feeling, and let that feeling express.’ Her inspiration was this book.

Miss Thompson writes the book as though she is having a wonderful conversation with Jesus and you are part of it, because you do feel immersed into the dialogue. The author asks questions of Jesus and he talks about his friends and acquaintances while you are given a glimpse of what his interactions may have been like with various people, and how both of them were affected. For me, I saw the lessons we can learn, the perspective we see in our own life some 2000 years later that move us and causes us to feel the shift in our own thoughts and to acknowledge that trusting our hearts and paying attention to our ‘mirrors’ brings great insight into the heart and about love and our reason for being. …..’each of us is free to love in the face of reasons not to’…and to me that means there is a reason to love every single person, because we are all one. What a world we could have if we all felt this way!

Is it possible that you give the pain you receive? For every emotional action taken, is there an emotional mirror returned? These were questions I asked myself because the author bids us to ponder them. Reflecting upon the ‘mirrors’ in my life, there are instances where I know I react a certain emotional way, wanting the outcome to be what I want and then I’m irritated when the reaction from someone else is entirely different! And then I’m really irritated when I ‘see’ the mirrors popping up in the lives closest to me, but they do not! One of the authors’ statements was: ‘I thought I could marry the person I loved; the truth is I married the person who mirrored my love.’ I think that sunk home for me in previously thinking that someone did not see the lessons their own mirrors were showing them (my husband) however; isn’t it me who doesn’t see the mirror that is shining in front of me when I judge his actions or words? If I looked at him with the best intention of seeing someone I love involved in the business of creating, and expecting only the very best light and love from him; isn’t that what I would see? And yes, I do think it’s possible that you give the pain you receive, however unconsciously at times. Aren’t my words the next most powerful weapon, if you will, next to my thoughts? Do I guard my thoughts and words so that I emit only the best intention towards something? Well, not always! But reading books like this reminds you to always be ‘present’ so that being the goodness that is you becomes automatic.

There are chapters on morality, approval, acceptance, betrayal, opinions and so much more with questions at the end, which I found to be thought provoking. The author follows with personal insights, very open and almost raw, and how it related to her life, which was for me, very nearly the best part of the book! I want to believe that upon reflection I can lead my heart and mind to do great things towards respecting the life I was given.

The author also said: ‘I knew that if I’d created the mess I was in, I could create something else.’ Since I have been dealing with various health issues; I became ever more committed to understanding this! I loved this book and know I will pick it up again and again. There is so much in here that I know I couldn’t absorb all I wanted to the first time around.

‘You are the light you let in, the love you give, the beauty you define, and the reason you live’. The book is full of wonderful, beautiful quotes from the author; and I loved this one. Healing has come to me in more enhanced ways, in my heart, body and mind since I have let others’ light in and dropped barriers to giving more love, and appreciating beauty in many forms. Love is the reason you live.

Take some old skin….and heal your thoughts and your heart….and make it better! KJude

A recent British study states women wear more than 500 chemicals a day . These chemicals are in everyday deodorants, moisturizers, lipsticks and hair care products, etc.

Man Made chemicals from such sources as petroleum are known to disrupt the hormone balance in our bodies. Hormonal balance is key to your healthy longevity. You can live a very long time, whether you live it healthy; or by taking medications and making doctor visits the staple of your existence, is in many ways up to you.

I truly believe that all disease and problems we face can be directly traced to our nutrition or lack of it and our environment, meaning the air we breathe; the food we eat, the drinks we ingest. Our emotions, attitudes and they way we handle stress all count too.

Before anyone gets mad at me, please understand I have a son with a rare disease that is considered genetic; although it is no where in either of our families. He was considered ‘a spontaneous mutation’; since the disease is caused by a ‘misspelling’ in chromosome 15…and it isn’t in our history. There is support, in my opinion that this was caused by generations of degrading soil condtions; causing an epidemic of mineral loss, along with the chemicals in our waters, the air, and in our foods. If you understand that the ingredients in a certain soft drink; when given to an infant at a dose of just 6 TBS; will change that infants DNA forever – it’s not a big stretch to see why we are having so many ‘new’ diseases. That is scary stuff.

Remember the Batman movie where Jack Nicholson had Gotham City terrified to put any lotions or use any hair care products on their bodies because he had poisoned everything? You had newscasters looking pretty rough in one scene.

I used to think I wouldn’t be able to leave the house if it got to that, LOL! Sadly enough, those 500 chemicals in our daily regimens are just as dangerous in the long run. It’s just a slower poison. Gladly though; there are super organic and natural ways to address using lotions and hair care products that are clean.

I made my own body wash with all natural ingredients. Once of the ingredients, Castile Soap can be used as a shampoo as well. It helps if you co-op with someone and buy what you can in larger containers and share the costs. Living Clean isn’t always the least expensive. Just like trying to eat well and healthy and whole. They don’t normally have coupons for organic items; although Sprouts and Newflower and Whole Foods do now. If I bought hamburger helper and chips and soda; my grocery bill would be less; and I would feel awful. So I figure I can pay now or pay later. You have to decide what’s more important.

You can also make your own toothpaste.

You can use Coconut Oil for full body moisturizing and hair conditioning. Mountain Rose has wonderful unrefined coconut oil that is perfect for moisturizing and using to make your own soaps. They also have many of the other oils you may like for the same purpose, in bulk. Wander around on their site; they have great pricing on lots of bulk items.

You can use Organic Apple Cider Vinager mixed with either a heavy water or distilled or a water like Evian for a mist and PH skin balance. Add an essential oil for the skin, if you can’t handle the smell. Check out my body wash article for ideas on essential oils that are good for skin conditions.

Olive Oil is another product good for an all over, including the face moisturizer.

Salt is an excellent exoliator for your body in the shower and a soothing toxin releaser in the bath. Don’t use salt on your face, the PH is wrong. You must use a good salt; not your Morton table salt.

Exfoliating Your Face naturally: Take some steel cut oats (available at health food and some regular stores) and mix with honey. Pat on the face and use in circular motions. Rinse and apply your Apple cider vinegar spritzer! Follow with coconut oil. Check out my post on Tips for Skin that Goes Bare for more ideas.

I get so many hits on the post for Does Your Stomach Always Hurt? so I am following it up with some other reasons and solutions.

There are many reasons your stomach hurts, but during that time you don’t care, you just want relief. Women over 40 or going through menopause seem to have an unusually hard time with constipation and general feelings of being bloated; feeling full and the sensation that you are carrying around extra in your middle. First of all, increase your water, a lot. Try a TBS of Apple Cider Vinager in a glass of water daily as well. Look at your diet!

The best solution for women in this age group is to strictly follow a lifestyle adoption of plenty of water, a good 84 trace mineral salt, plenty of natural minerals; and a good diet. I have learned this the hard way; much like I have learned everything else in my life. Everytime I try to push the envelope and pretend I am a lot younger than I am; calamity in the form of weight gain; bloated feelings and a spare tire forming crops up. I have gained 10 pounds in the last few months because I was actually underweight for a while and thought I could go back to half a loaf of french bread and ice cream every day. BIG HUGE mistake. Then I didn’t have room for the water or the veggies I knew I should eat.

I had to remake the changes that had brought me so much relief before.

Smooth Move Tea from Traditional Medicines works very well. It tastes great; and says to drink before bed, but it is too stimulating for me and I have been up all night before because if one tea bag works good; two must work great. Try drinking it after dinner and you should be ok.

Dr. Shultz’ Intestinal Formula 2 is an excellent product to take just one or two capsules nightly. If you want to do a colon cleanse, get his Intestinal Formula 1 as well.

Take a tsp (or two if you are brave) of 84 trace mineral salt and add tepid water and drink. Best at night. My Doctor is always telling me I am not getting enough salt. Usually that is music to my ears but I use a very good 84 trace mineral salt and I don’t need to salt things as much as I used to but its very important because of the minerals you get that are readily usable by the body. IF you do not have enough calcium and magnesium in your diet your body won’t work. The best way to obtain these two nutrients is the salt and you can also try Emergen C for both electrolytes and Vitamin C and B complex.

So: the solution? LOTS of spring water, important to keep the minerals in the water. NO table salt; which can actually cause health trubles, but an 84 Trace Mineral Salt like Himalayan pink salt; daily doses of Emergen C for electrolytes; plenty of fruits and veggies, steamed or raw or stir fried; I think the most important thing is to get them in your system. It wears me out to think I should be fixing my food a hundred different ways just to get them in my mouth. Sometimes raw radishes with fresh cucumbers, home grown tomatos, some cut up broccoli and califlower on a plate with some salt on them and HEY why not, some hard cheeses to go long with it sounds pretty inviting, not to mention good for you. The Asian Tao book for staying thin mentions that you should steam or parbroil your veggies first for better assimilation and use bamboo shoots in your stir fry. There are no redeeming qualities or nutrition per say in bamboo shoots other than to help fill your large intestine so it moves through faster.

Cleansing is a superior way to lose extra around your middle and make room in your system for fresh and vital foods. Sometimes we get constipated because we are stressed and weighted down with life. It is so true that your thoughts and feelings affect everything you do and are. Louise Hay, a prominent spirtual healer feels that constipation is there because a person has a hard time ‘letting go’ of…whatever. Mantras and affirmations are very good for you; it puts your head in the right frame of mind. Say this: ‘as I release the past the new and fresh and vtital enter. I allow life to flow through me.’ Even if you feel funny doing it…everyone has closets, cobwebs, hurts and unmet desires they need to have out of their thought processes. Go ahead and give it a try. A great cleansing product is Global Healing Center Oxy Powder

Here are some great foods to get you going. (said with a smile!) This is from the website of Dr. Grouper; Global Healing Center

Bran Cereals – High fiber cereals are a great addition to your diet and a healthful way to start your day. Usually low in preservatives and sugars, bran cereals are a great source of dietary fiber.

Beans, Peas & Legumes – Low in both fat and cholesterol, beans and legumes are high in fiber and protein. They make for a great substitute for meat.

Broccoli – Very high in fiber and an excellent natural antibiotic, broccoli has also demonstrated some cancer-fighting potential.

Dried Fruit – When dried organically, dried fruit keeps much of the nutritional properties of the raw variety. Dried figs, prunes, and apricots are great intestinal movers.

Raw Nuts & Seeds– Raw almonds, sunflower seeds, chia seeds, hazelnuts, and chestnuts lead the way as the best choices, because they are high in fiber, protein, vitamin E and calcium. Nuts and seeds are also very filling, so you don’t have to eat many before feeling satisfied. Chew thoroughly for easier digestion.

Cherries– A natural blood stimulant, cherries have been used for centuries to detoxify the kidneys. Cherries also have the anti-cancer compound, ellagic acid, and are very effective at relieving constipation.

Bananas – High in fiber and a natural bulk-producing agent, bananas are great for promoting easy digestion.

Apples – The high pectin levels in apples stimulate the bowels and also provide bulk for bowel movements. One of the best natural laxative foods is organic apple cider vinegar. Just pour a small amount into a glass of purified water and drink it in the morning.

Carrots– A rich source of Beta-Carotene, carrots are natural body detoxifiers. Also high in pectin, carrots add bulk to stool and can stimulate bowel contractions.

Green Vegetables – Leafy green vegetables like spinach, kale, and turnip greens are very high in vitamins and minerals.

Cinnamon – Cinnamon stimulates intestinal peristalsis (the wave-like contractions) and also triggers the release of bile for digestion.

Other natural foods for relieving constipation: tamarind, dates, prunes, coconut, and Brussels sprouts. Fresh berriers such as strawberries, raspberries and blackberries are also great at relieving constipation.

Avoid Constipating Foods and Drinks

Constipating foods and drinks include white flour, cheese, fried and fatty foods, sweets, salt, beef, pasteurized milk, all junk food, carbonated drinks, caffeine, and alcohol, just to name a few.

Drink Eight Glasses of Water a Day

Now where have you heard that one before, right! Water is vital to your body, and makes up approximately 80 percent of your body weight. Every system in your body depends on water. For example, water flushes toxins out of vital organs, carries nutrients to your cells and provides a moist environment for ear, nose and throat tissues. Water will also help moisten the intestines, so that the bowels will move easily.

Exercise Regularly

Implementing a regular exercise routine into your schedule will nourish your blood and oxygenate your system. Exercise does not have to be a rigorous work out! Here is the best part – exercise is cost friendly, and will also help reduce your stress. You can start with walking three times a week for 30 minutes per walk. Does that sound like a plan you can work into your weekly schedule? Imagine, 90 minutes of walking a week for starters, will impact your health positively for the long run, when done consistently and regularly over time. Exercise is one of the best ways to get quick constipation relief!

My toothpaste recipe was so popular I wanted to offer some ideas for a natural body wash and bath soaks. I don’t like to use fragrance in my body wash products; but I really miss the luxury of smelling something beautiful during shower or bath time, so essential oils fill that void. Some of the oils are beautifying for the skin and therapeutic as well! And this is chemical free!

To make your own body wash:

½ cup of Jojoba Oil
¼ cup of liquid Castille soap*
¼ cup Aloe very gel

Want to make your own toothpaste? Tired of finding that little tiny lid every morning? LOL….I do not use fluoride in mine; and buying or even finding it without fluroide is hard and very expensive. You still may end up with preservatives and things you don’t want or need in the toothpaste anyway. Fluoride is widely touted to protect our teeth, but it’s actually purported to be a poisonous chemical that causes cancer, damages our nervous system, and even creates weak teeth and bones. At the very least; it causes stomach upset, which are all reasons why they put it right on the container to NOT swallow toothpaste and to call the poison control center if you do! (However; since the insides of your mouth and under the tongue have a 90% absorbtion rate; you are already sunk so to speak) Plus your brush will stay bacteria free naturally!

Here is a small batch recipe that is a combo of several entries online:

2 TBS of organic coconut oil

mix in 3 TBS of baking soda; add NOW brand drops of peppermint and spearment essential oil (mixed they aren’t as hot; about 25 drops or to taste) and Viola!
(baking soda is alkaline so helps to neutralize acids in your mouth that are often at the root of tooth decay and baking soda absorbs odors and helps produce sweet breath)

1/2 packet of stevia powder if preferred (optional)

keep in a jar with lid and dole out or dip your brush.
the consistency will change below and above 76 degrees, but scraping it out is a piece of cake; and it will soften in your mouth
be sure to run warm water down the drain afterwards as well

If you have ever heard of OIL PULLING you will know that:

coconut oil is very beneficial for your mouth, teeth and gums and your tongue

the anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties of the oil help with the bacteria that causes decay and bad breath

the oil kills the bacteria that are responsible for gingivitis

brushing your tongue with the oil helps with thrush, a fungal problem localized in the mouth, and to boot, coconut oil has been found to stop and even reverse some tooth decay

Great Price/Source for Coconut Oil You could even order a gallon and split with a friend; it’s still cheaper than buying it at the store!

Here are some fast, inexpensive tricks for the skin that you bare:

Soak the soles of your feet in equal parts water and orange, grapefruit or lemon juice, because in these fruits there are natural alpha-hydroxy acids, which effectively loosen and remove dead skin cells.

Use moisturizer with urea, lactic acid or vitamin A, which helps skin retain moisture and exfoliate dead cells. Before bed, slather your feet with moisturizer, and wear cotton socks to keep it on skin and off sheets.

Rub elbows with this homemade scrub at least once a week: Mix 1/4 cup sugar and 1/4 cup olive oil with a few drops of your favorite essential oil. These oils can even be found at some higher end grocery stores; and always at a health food establishment. Look for the scented ones designed for use on the skin, they will be labeled. Scoop a heaping tablespoon into your hand and rub it into elbows with gentle circular motions. Rinse with warm water.

Exfoliate hands every other day to slough off dead skin cells. Mix equal amounts of sugar and sour cream or honey, and rub on hands as if it’s soap. Or leave it on for 10 minutes as a mask. The sugar exfoliates dead skin, while sour cream and honey soften it.

Wash hands with a soap-free cleanser – soap strips moisture. After washing, apply cream or lotion to damp skin.

Wear gloves when washing dishes or cleaning the house to guard hands from harsh detergents and other chemicals.

Keep Lips Luscious: Exfoliate lips weekly with a wet washcloth and gentle circular motions, and follow with a drop of olive oil to hydrate/sooth the skin.

Lips are exposed to sun and wind every day, so no wonder they get dry.

Epsom salt also has valuable beauty benefits in that it softens and exfoliates skin, and gives hair extra body. Epsom salt in the bath is a perfect way to ease stress. It replenishes the body’s levels of magnesium as it is absorbed through the body. Studies indicate that the magnesium absorbed during the bathing process may raise serotonin levels (the chemical in the brain that creates a feeling of wellbeing), and may also offset excess levels of adrenalin caused by everyday stress. Studies have also found that soaking in Epsom salt at least three times a week increases energy and stamina. Overall, it makes you feel better and even look better.

Benefits from the use of Epsom salt:

To relieve stress: Add two cups of Epsom Salt to a bath and soak for at least 12 minutes. For a refreshing scent, you can add a few drops of eucalyptus oil.
To exfoliate: After showering, massage handfuls of Epsom Salt over wet skin.

To pamper weary feet, add 1/2 cup of Epsom salt to a basin of warm water. Soak for 20 minutes. You can then continue with your pedicure as usual, such as rubbing calluses away with a pumice stone. After drying your feet, you can add two drops of peppermint essential oil to a natural moisturizer and massage into the skin until it is thoroughly rubbed in.

I love the sun. I still sit outside almost daily for the benefits (making Vitamin D) and a tan on my legs! It just covers lots of imperfections! I do however; keep a good sun block on my face because I just do not want the effects of the sun showing up there. I still have color because in Texas, it seems the sun is everywhere; all the time and it’s nearly impossible to keep the sun away, unless you want to be a hermit, which I don’t. If I was sure that I had a large enough antioxidant pool in my body, I would probably forgo sun block on my face too! However; I follow many of the suggestions in this video for obtaining the benefits of sunlight, as opposed to the mainstream idea that you must slather sunscreen everywhere in order to fight skin cancer, which is not the case, and actually the opposite is true!

Vitamin D is an extremely necessary nutrient, and the way our body makes it is by the reaction of the sun on our skin. We have been told the sun is our enemy; and now most of us are Vitamin D deficient. I was taking 10,000 IU of the vitamin; and not absorbing any of it! The benefits of Vitamin D are numerous – including helping your body fight cancer; so find out the best way to obtain it.

I always try to bring the forward thinking ideas to my website; and viewing the video below is no exception. It makes so much sense. And common sense is sorely lacking today, in my humble opinion, in most areas, but especially in true health. In the video he debunks several myths about the sun, skin cancer and cancer in general.

Instead of listing the high points of this video; do yourself a favor and take the 20 minutes to view it yourself. Put it into your favorites if you need to view it later; but watch it!

Good sleep is almost the number one anti-aging; youth restoring thing we can do. I just got back from a whirlwind trip across a few states and slept about 5 hours a night for 5 nights. The thrill of the fun while on my trek kept me from feeling tired all the time (as well as three times the coffee); but overall my body wasn’t up to par; didn’t work right; and I needed a lot more cover up under the eyes than I am used to! Sleep deprivation is hard on your body; hard on your face.

Before bed - a good calming way to sleep well and generally to relax you, AND help with that jaw locking; line forming habit of grinding teeth is to take a dose of Vitamin C – 1000mg - no more because your body may not absorb it and take 400 mg of magnesium and 800 mg of calcium. Please note I am not a health care practitioner; that is my regimen, given to me by mine…but always check your other supplements to see how much you are getting elsewhere. Most of us are magnesium deficient so it’s an individual thing. AND you need calcium with magnesium. A normal person’s ratio is 2:1 Calcium to Magnesium – but if you have thyroid or heart issues; you need to get professional advice.

Wind down – Women tend to flutter around the house doing this chore or that, and I think of how when I fall into bed I will just crash into slumber for the night. It’s like being in Vegas, sometimes it works; sometimes it doesn’t. My husband sits on the couch with his remote and then starts snoring as soon as his one page of the book gets read; and then slumbers for the night. SO. There must be something to stopping activity and trying to decompress. Although I have read that this is the difference between men and women: that men rebuild their testosterone from the stresses of the day by sitting and reading/watching tv; etc. Women have a tendency to do laundry and bookkeeping and put children down, etc. (I read that in a book a man wrote though; so I am reserving judgement on the necessity of men sitting on the couch for hours). How do we rebuild ourselves?? Apparently by knocking ourselves practically out with chores before going to bed!

I do take 2 mg. of melatonin each night.

I like to shower before bed. Or a bath if there is time.

Seriously, I will say it outloud: I’m sleeping through the night and waking up refreshed. IF I truly believe I will do that; I will. Sometimes. When I believe it.

I have learned from my ND that you MUST eat enough salt – and not just any salt!! Because not enough will cause sleep disturbances. 84 mineral salt is what I consume; and I need at least a 1/4 tsp each meal, sprinkled on my food, after it is cooked. Or on fresh veggies, like cucumbers and tomatoes. The minerals in the salt are best absorbed by your body; rather than taking a pill. Mineral deficiency is a huge problem from the foods we consume, which are loaded with sodium and iodized salt – salt that has the minerals refined from them and maybe some iodine put back in. It actually causes hypertension problems!! Obtaining our minerals from the source is always better than popping a pill. This is not an overnight fix; however, if your body is low in salt, you will experience a multitude of problems.
Read my post: Salt For Your Natural Aging Skin Health

Emergen C is an awesome product. 1000 mg of vitamin C and electrolytes are provided; with some B vitamins. One packet daily is recommended by my health practitioner. You can get this product anywhere! This too; along with salt is a great addition to your day to help with sleep and rehydrating your body with natural electrolytes. It actually has more sugar in there than I like; so I buy the sugar free…I have to take the good with the bad sometimes.

Don’t eat anything heavy at least 2-3 hours before bed. When I get this down; I will let you know. But I really do TRY not to eat too much after 8 p.m. I always sleep better when I don’t.

Take digestive enzymes with dinner especially if you feel full. Going to bed on a full stomach will practically guarantee that you won’t sleep well. Click on the link to purchase a superior brand.

Sleep well with these nighttime hints for natural healthy aging skin and….take some old skin and make it better!

These are the ‘jobs’ of a true mineral-rich salt. If you change nothing else in your diet at first; this is one thing you should do! It was a tip I gave to my sister after being diagnosed with Celiac and she was leaving gluten out of her diet, but she needed to rebuild her digestive tract. She was amazed at the difference in the taste of food (for the better), and how little you really need to salt your food if you are using the right salt! This salt has NO chemicals!

You will be able to see that what ‘real salt’ does for you, in helping with your entire body and your looks!

Himalayan Crystal Salt is beneficial because it contains 84 minerals.
