Over 50: what do you do for your skin and health?

by KJude on November 20, 2009

  • First of all, genetics – my Mother, bless her
  • I drink a lot of oxygenated water – sometimes 3 liters a day of Cielo water. www.cielo.com
  • I stick to one cup of coffee – organic – AND heavy cream with my coffee; none of the artificial dairy creamers.
  • I try to incorporate more green tea into my day
  • I don’t drink sodas…ever or anything with artificial sweeteners.
  • I exercise 5-7 days a week on machines and free weights or I walk or ride a bike
  • I sweat at least 15 minutes (while exercising; or even sitting outside in 100 degree weather)
  • I eat organic or as close to natural as I can – lots of fruit and veggies
  • I LOVE red wine; but I try to stick to two glasses a day – lately I have not been indulging – reason below
  • I use a sun block on my face neck and décolleté religiously….after of course I tanned myself repeatedly in my teens and early 20’s.
  • I try to keep dairy and gluten to a minimum – which is really really really really hard!
  • I eat way too much cheese and bread though despite my efforts
  • I use natural cosmetics
  • I use a high quality skin care regime – because everyone is worth it
  • I sing in the car
  • I read voraciously
  • I hug my kids constantly if I can find them
  • I love to kiss – my husband gets tired of it sometimes
  • I take bio-identical hormones
  • I try to keep my immune system strong with vitamin supplements and attitude.  Some of the best:  Super Tonic and Echinacea from Dr. Shultz at
www.herbdoc.com check out that website for an eye opening experience.  There isn’t a product I haven’t tried or loved.  I get nothing for recommending him; but his products are worth it.
  • I take fish oil, ground flax seed, use fresh ginger in my morning health shake, use lots of olive oil and real butter from grass fed cows – a sub lingual B complex. Probiotics. Life Extension  has great supplements with the Science and Research to back them up.  They were THE front runners in the early 80’s with anti-aging; which really means….getting older with your health still intact.  Even if you do not want to become a member; their prices are extremely reasonable.
  • Despite all the measures above I have been in a health crisis of sorts for months.  Which only means I wasn’t doing enough for myself against the onslaught of previous sins from nutrition wastelands and younger antics – so I will be blogging about those changes soon.
